Nice playing FlamTriplet...the feet are happnin'!
...okay, what pedals were you using?
They are the Axis A Longboards with Gilbralter Wood Beaters. Beater angle is around 5 inches from the head.
Jim,
I remember checking out some of your stuff before. Killing feet! Do you have any tips you'd be willing to pass along? Practice techniques, workouts or exercises?
Hey, someone here had to ask!

For control, I like to play 1/8 notes on the hats, with a 2 and 4 on snare. I then play 16th note doubles with my feet. 1st measure RRLL, 2nd RLLR, 3rd LLRR and 4th LRRL, played as a 4 bar repeated pattern. Then, if you want, you can fill in the Right doubles, then the left and then both. I do it slow for timing accuracy.
I found that when playing fast for a long time, my feet and ankles kinda lose their sensitivity and accuracy, so that's when I go to a full leg movement. That way, I can get more power. It seems to me like a more direct connection to what I hear in my head. The bigger the muscles, the more primal the beat.
i also like playing a watermelon-french fry riff to work up speed in bursts.
Another thing that I like to do is play 6 stroke rolls RllrrL on the feet as 16ths in a 6/8 groove(1/8 on hats, a blues backbeat on "4" of 6)
Then, when you get comfortable with that, you can experiment with sticking patterns on top or fill in selected doubles.
And then play the RllrrL pattern on the feet as 16th note triplets, which creates a 3:2(dotted Quarter) kinda feel on the feet. And then mess with some latin 6/8 hand patterns. By this time your legs can really start burning.
There's more to do after this...

Flam Triplet,
Thanks for the exercises!!!
Watermelon french fry lick? Could you explain that? My guess is that six 1/16th singles alternated on Double Bass ending with a snare hit. Perhaps with 1/8ths on the HH on top? But I really don't know. Thanks again,
Brad
